Testing of Reproducibility
In connection with halogen and xenon lights dynamic adjustments of the height and orientation of the curve light are realized with stepper motors, which act on the optical elements of the headlight. The requirements to the headlight mechanical elements are thereby considerable, then they must position the optical elements at a high speed an operate safely and precisely. And this also under the most extreme climatic conditions.
The vehicle manufacturers pick up samples of headlights and test the positioning systems under extreme climatic conditions repeatedly for weeks. During this time the actual positions of the headlight elements of interest can be measured and recorded by means of the LaserTrac software * precisely. A graphical visualization of the results shows on a glance whether in the observation period even if only one false positioning occurred.
In this manner a getting stuck of the headlight in a position dazzling the oncoming traffic can be excluded to a large extent at an early stage.
* Examinating the reproducibility of arbitrary headlight positions can be done using both systems LaserCam and LaserTrac on the hardware side. Seen from the Software side of view it is a typical LaserTrac application. The LaserTrac software is however available with drivers for the LaserCam hardware.
